Maleficent - movie review ! :)

so today i went to the cinema to watch Maleficent with melissa and some other friends.

 it just came out today so the cinema room was pretty full!

but i thought that i would give a review on it as it has been a very hyped up film!

#BIGSPOILERS so yeh ......




So firstly i would just like to say that OMG! it was soooooo good!

like it gives a completely different side to the story and it wasn't what i expected at all!

What i thought the film was going to be about was how Maleficent became the evil person that she is known to be which to some extent it does. HOWEVER in this film she is actually shown as the good person who kinda does the wrong thing but in the end fixes it and shes the hero and its all sunshine and rainbows!

First of all it shows Maleficent as a cute little fairy child and gives us a little bit of a background story about how she was betrayed and this kinda makes Maleficent evil and explains the whole curse ting with aurora. Which i think was a very good part of the film as it really explains why she did what she did and makes us sympathize maleficent.

 Later in the film it is shown that Maleficent feels guilty for putting the curse on Aurora. Aurora meets Maleficent and believes she is her "fairy godmother" the two bond and Maleficent wants to stop the curse but she is unable to as only "a true loves kiss" can break the curse.

Now this is when you would generally think "WELL WHERES PHILLIP? HE SURELY HE WILL BE ABLE TO SAVE THE PRINCESS?!?!"........ well in this movie apparently not.

Phillip basically has no point in being in the film as he only meets aurora once ( in the forest)  and then you know that part in the Original where he is supposed to stab Maleficent and save Aurora from her death like sleep ...... yeh that just doesn't really happen.

I mean he does kiss her but actually .......

THE KISS DOESN'T WORK!?!

It turns out that Maleficent is soooo upset the kiss didn't work she swears she will protect the child for as long as she lives and then ..... kisses her on the forehead.

which of course bring Aurora back to life so.... YAY!

 Shortly afterwards there is a fight scene but it is not with Phillip but with Stefan the king.

Now the fights scene in the original is when Maleficent gets stabbed and dies.....

BUT NOOOO that doesn't happen and instead King Stefan dies.

In the end Maleficent survives everybody is happy, Aurora decides to live with Maleficent in the magical fairy place, Aurora and Phillip kind of exchange loving glances and the two kingdoms are now united and the only person that really dies is the king .

All in all the majority of the film was great as it made Maleficent appear the hero rather than the Villain which was interesting! However they really should have made the ending more like the original. Basically just because Phillip had no purpose in the film what so ever and really speaking he should have stabbed Maleficent.

 I mean they could have made it appear that she was dead to the people of the kingdom when in actual fact she's still alive and maybe watching over Aurora because she is her "fairy godmother" . I think if they had done that then it would be able to link more to the original and would therefore make it better rather than basically saying that the original was told incorrect and it is all lies.

I hope that didn't seem too negative and makes you not want to watch it because trust me YOU SHOULD WATCH IT! it's just that the ending annoyed me a little.....

If i was to give it a rating i would probs say ...

4/5 as the ending was the only bit that i didn't like that much. :)

so yeah that is it!
